Chinchillas are attractive-looking and distinctive little animals. A chinchilla can reach a ripe old age (10-18) and become very tame. Chinchillas are crepuscular animals. In other words, they are mainly active in the evening and at night. This is also important to consider when feeding these animals. Therefore, it is best to feed the animals in the early evening as it is at this time of day that they start to become active.
The downside is that chinchillas need a lot of space. Chinchillas are social animals by nature and become very unhappy on their own, therefore they must be kept in a group environment.
